  How to Best Use TT 3.0 on a Tablet or Phone  
     
  Our latest products—the 3.0s—are built with Adobe Flash and therefore require a special app in order to run on most tablets and smartphones. The app that we recommend is a free browser called Puffin. Step-by-step instructions for running TT on Puffin are detailed below, but please keep in mind that since most tablets and phones have small screens, the user experience on these devices will be worse than it is on a regular home computer. Also, since Puffin is a third-party program that we neither sell nor control, we may not always be able to troubleshoot problems with mobile delivery as they arise.

Step 1: Install the Puffin Browser on Your Device
Open the App Store (on an iPhone or iPad) or Google Play Store (on an Android device) and search for "Puffin". Your first results should be the App you need (see our screenshots below for confirmation). Note that there are both free and paid versions of Puffin but the free version should be sufficient. It should only take a couple of minutes at most to install, and once you have it on your device, just open it like you would a normal web browser.

Step 2: Navigate to the 3.0 Website
Puffin's interface is probably very similar to the web browser you normally use on your smartphone or tablet. So next, just type "ttwebversion.com" into the address bar and tap "Go."

  When you reach the page shown above, simply go through the login process just like you would on your desktop. That means you'll need to make sure your email address is correct, select whether you want to login as you or a student, and then type in the necessary information. The screens below are what you might see if you signed in as a student.

Step 3: Tips for Using the 3.0 on a Touchscreen Device
Puffin has a fullscreen (a.k.a "Theater") mode. This takes a website's Flash content and fills your device's screen with it. We do NOT recommend that your child be in this mode when working with the 3.0 because it will actually make the interactive portions of the program more difficult to use. Instead, we recommend you hold the device in portrait mode—where it's taller than it is wide)—then tap the settings menu in the upper-right corner. When the menu appears select "Keyboard."
 
     
  The TT 3.0 shown in "portrait." The portrait perspective helps because it leaves plenty of space for the keyboard to appear in the bottom half of the screen. This way the keyboard won't cover up any of the math problems or lesson menus/buttons on the TT interface. However, if you happen to have a physical keyboard for your tablet, you may want to give the fullscreen (a.k.a. "Theater") option a try as well.  
     
  Because Puffin doesn't automatically pull the keyboard up each time your child will need to type in an answer, it's best if he pulls it up at the beginning of an assignment and just leaves it. Once the keyboard is on the screen, he may want to pinch zoom to center things a bit. In fact, after the assignment begins, he may decide to just zoom in on the notepad area alone, to make the problems more easily visible. Zooming in on the notepad makes the most sense when using the 3.0 on a phone, since phone screens are so small. Also, generally speaking, the younger the child, the more likely he will need help in getting the screen situated correctly.  
     
  A smartphone (left) may require more zooming than a tablet (right), but your child may think differently. The most important thing is that he be able to use the TT interface with as little difficulty as possible, so feel free to help him experiment until he finds his preferred method.
